About the author:
My work is inspired by my Senegalese roots, where basket-weaving is a craft passed down through generations of women in rural villages.
As part of the Voices of Resistance exhibition, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a community group on a series of workshops, creating baskets inspired by the traditional designs once used by coal workers in St. Thomas during that era.
